June 2006
Dear Friend,
We are in the planning stages for our 2006 tournament which will be held on Sunday, Oct. 1 at Tealbend Golf Course in Sacramento, CA. For more than 60 years, NCAI has defended tribal sovereignty and has been the leading national organization dedicated to protecting tribal treaty rights. Now is the time for tribal leadership to take control of our future and establish a permanent presence in Washington, D.C. This year the proceeds received will support this effort of the National Congress of American Indians (NCAI.)
In October 2004, the NCAI Executive Board made an important decision to embark on a Capital Campaign to purchase a building for NCAI. The Board has set an ambitious goal of raising $12 million over the next 3 years. We need your help to achieve this goal.
The funds raised will be used to purchase a building once we reach an initial amount of $2 million. We received an enthusiastic response and over $300,000 in pledges for the campaign during our recent Executive Council Winter Session. Former U.S. Senator Ben Nighthorse Campbell, while making a generous donation to the “Embassy of Tribal Nations”, said it is time to make this longstanding vision a reality. He challenged tribes to come forward and pledge their commitment to NCAI. He said NCAI has been a true champion for tribal rights for decades and that now is the time for tribes to give NCAI the home it deserves. Let's build on this momentum and seize this exciting opportunity. We invite Potential Sponsors to join us as a sponsor for this event. By being a sponsor in this event you will be promoting your company to a group of people who are very loyal to its sponsors, as well as to the many area professionals who will be participating at the event itself. Companies and organizations like yours make available the resources that enrich our children’s futures and for that we are forever grateful. We are anticipating a highly successful and wellattended outing. Show friends, neighbors and colleagues your company’s commitment to Native America and become a sponsor. We are offering various levels of sponsorships. Please see the attached sponsor form for more information.
We thank you in advance for your support for this cause. Contributions to NCAI are fully taxdeductible. Please take a moment to review all of the enclosed materials. We look forward to your favorable response. If you have any questions or to confirm your sponsorship, please contact Bernida Humetewa at 5058670203 or by email at bhumetewa@ncai.org or Joseph Brown Thunder at 9162739440 or by email at joseph@brownthunder.com.
