Native Confluence: Sustaining Cultures

08/29/09 - 11/28/09

Tempe, AZ

Native Confluence: Sustaining Cultures
Aug. 28 – Opening Reception 6:30-8 p.m. @ CRC

Do You Remember When? is Postcommodity’s site-specific installation and intervention that makes up the first part of the Native Confluence: Sustaining Cultures project spanning the fall 2009 season at the CRC. A blessing will beperformed at 7 p.m. to honor Indigenous/non-Indigenous collaboration and cooperation for a sustainable future.

Organized by curator Peter Held, Native Confluence speaks to a native worldview in terms of inter-generational methods of practicing sustainability. The approach to organic materials and tools from ancestral traditions allows new doors to open. Holistic in its outlook, the idea of sustainability is consciousness about the whole – whole community, world and self.
