About the Conference: This event has been requested by the Tribes and Tribal organizations that have been working with the needs of Native child victims in Alaska over the past several years. Many of these received federal grants from the Office for Victims of Crime to address serious child abuse and child sexual abuse. In response to the need, the Tribal Law & Policy Institute has developed a video by and for Alaska Native people called “Pathway to Hope: Healing Child Sexual Abuse”. This video is the foundation for the presentations at this conference.

State Scholarship Opportunity
Individual Scholarships may be requested through the Alaska Children’s Justice Task Force by contacting Sara Gray, Program Coordinator at Sara.Gray@alaska.gov or at 907-465-3207, fax 907-465-3656. This scholarship can provide reimbursement only and requires a letter from your supervisor. Your application must be completed and returned to Sara Gray no later than December 1st to be considered. Incomplete applications will not be considered.
Federal Scholarship Opportunity
A limited number of Professional Development Scholarships are available through the Office for Victims of Crime to those who work with victims of crime. The program provides up to $1,000 for individuals and up to $5,000 for multidisciplinary teams of victim service professionals seeking continuing education opportunities. Applications for this scholarship can be found at http://www.ovcttac.org/taResources/PDscholarship.cfm and are due no later than November 20, 2007 in order to meet the 45 day in advance deadline.

POST CONFERENCE TRAINING OF COMMUNITY FACILITATORS
January 11 & 12, 2008 ~ Registration Cost: $150
Maximum participants: 25
Format: Community Educator Training for Those Who Want to Learn to Provide Presentations to
Native people About Issues Relating to Child Sexual Abuse. Only those who complete this training
will receive a copy of the Pathways to Hope video and Guidebook to use for community education
purposes.
Who can apply: Victim advocates and others serving Native communities and/or families; each
applicant will be screened for appropriateness for this training. Request a registration form from Tribal Law & Policy Institute – 907-770-1950. Registration is due December 10, 2007. Payment must be made to secure registration.
**Rural Human Services UAF academic credits (up to 3 credits for expanded course) are available.
