DEFINING OUR VISION FOR HEALTHY VIBRANT NATIVE ECONOMIES

Summary Report
Approximately 500 stakeholders made a deliberate decision and concerted effort to focus on a vision to create a different future for Native communities when they gathered in Phoenix this past May to participate in the National Native American Economic Policy Summit (Summit).
Summit participants were given the freedom to dream beyond the current economic reality, and focus on developing common strategies needed to create a future that Native citizens, business owners and governments desire. Based on feedback during and after the Summit, we were able to accomplish our goals of creating a new vision and defining the policy challenges and solutions need to create vibrant and healthy Native economies.
The Summit information is included on this site to further discussion and assist those who may be carrying issues forward.

Academic Research
White papers were authored by academic partners to promote a common understanding of the issues and challenges to economic development in Native communities and to set the stage for solution-focused conversations. A white paper was written for each track with one paper dedicated to an overview of the Indian economy.
