The California Rural Indian Health Board, Inc. (CRIHB) a 501c3 not-for-profit corporation is recruiting for the key leadership position responsible for directing and administering all programs for the benefit of a 31 member Tribal consortium.

California Rural Indian Health Board Inc. was founded in 1969 by Tribal Governments in California to serve as the central coordinating point for the planning and development of an Indian controlled health care delivery system.  As stated in the corporate bylaws, "This Corporation is formed to provide a central focal point in the Indian health field in California for planning, advocacy, funding, training, technical assistance, coordination, fund-raising, education, development and for the purpose of promoting unity and formulating common policy on Indian health care issues."

CRIHB is sanctioned by twenty-one (21) tribes to operate under the Indian Self-Determination Act (PL 93-638) as a Tribal Organization providing health care services through a unique subcontracting process as well as training, management support and technical assistance services.   Currently Thirty-one (31) tribes are represented at the CRIHB Board of Directors by their resolution designated Tribal Health Programs and their direct participation in the Tribal Governments Consultation Committee which meet quarterly to provide governance oversight and policy development.   

 


Required Education:

QUALIFICATIONS:

Applicant must possess a minimum of a professional master’s degree.  Extensive experience in health services management and health policy development, excellent communication skills, and commitment to addressing health disparities are required.  Professional work experience in American Indian communities is desirable.  The following qualification would be considered an asset:  1) Experience working in the non-profit sector or Tribal Governments; 2) Budget management skills; 3) Federal grants management experience.


Duties And Responsibilities:

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

As delegated by the CRIHB Board of Directors, the Executive Director is responsible for providing the leadership and management of the organization and for the administration of the various programs funded through grants, cooperative agreements, contracts, and other funding for the organization.  The Executive Director has primary fiduciary responsibility and will exercise effective stewardship of all public, private and donated funds.  The Executive Director will ensure the consistent achievement of the mission, functions, and strategic plan for the organization, including the articulation of positions on health policy at the state and national levels as identified by the Board of Directors.  The Executive Director reports directly to the Board of Directors and has responsibility for supervision of all program personnel.
