  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail necessary to prioritize multiple initiatives and projects.
  • Skill in developing public relations and internal corporate communications materials.
  • Skill in advanced design.
  • Skill in the use of job-related software, and social media platforms including but not limited to:  Word, PowerPoint, Publisher, LinkedIn, Facebook, Adobe In Design Platform or Adobe CC, etc. 
  • Skill in oral and written communication and public speaking.
  • Skill in assessing and prioritizing multiple tasks, projects and demands and project management.
  • Skill in presenting information to executive level management and external audiences.
  • Skill in analyzing health care issues and preparing communications based on findings.
  • Able to think creatively and independently.
  • Able to create and assemble attractive public relation materials.

  • Ability to maintain a flexible work schedule, including evenings, weekends and overnight or extended travel as necessary.

  • Valid driver’s license must be kept current, and certificates, credentials or licenses must be kept current and consistent with regulations required by applicable federal, state and/or grant regulations.

Required Education:

  • Minimum education required is Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Marketing, Communications or related field from an accredited college or university, master’s degree preferred. Progressively responsible professional work-related experience, education, or training may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for college education.  
  • A minimum of five (5) years’ experience in public relations or marketing, of which one (1) year must be in the health care industry, and one (1) year of supervisory experience.  Experience working with a tribal healthcare system is preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to be detail oriented.
  • Proficiency with computer programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and other Internet technologies.
  • Experience that indicates the ability to interact effectively with leaders among American Indian communities, government agencies, scientific and academic communities, medical and health-related organizations, nongovernmental groups and the public at large is required.

Duties And Responsibilities:

This position is responsible for the management, strategy and execution of comprehensive public relations and communication programs and activities for the GPTCHB, including the Oyate Health Center (OHC), aimed to improve the overall success of the organization.  This position is responsible for managing all aspects of public relations and communication at the corporate level and supporting individual programs as needed.
