Skills And Qualifications:
Successful candidates will demonstrate proven success in identification, cultivation, solicitation, and attainment of major gifts ($25,000+), preferably from Sovereign Nations and/or international populations, strong organizational and communication skills, and the initiative and ability to work independently. A minimum of four years of progressive fundraising experience, a passion for learning and exploration, and the desire to join a dynamic and growing operation should be demonstrated in your application. Experience in a complex higher education or large cultural organization is preferred. Extensive travel required.
Duties And Responsibilities:
The best candidate will be able to articulate an appreciation of and embrace the Museum’s mission of advancing knowledge and understanding of the Native cultures of the Western Hemisphere – past, present and future – through partnership with Native peoples and others. The Museum works to support the continuance of culture, traditional values and transitions in contemporary Native life.
The Major Gift Officer will play an important role in building and managing a national portfolio of prospects, expanding the scope and scale of the NMAI’s fundraising efforts, and in helping formulate strategy and implementation of plans to achieve fundraising goals.
