The National Congress of American Indians (NCAI) is pleased to partner with the Native American Finance Officers Association (NAFOA) and the Harvard Business School (HBS) to offer a program for leaders, executive officers, senior administrators, and senior financial managers of tribal nations and Native organizations serving the needs of tribal communities and Native people across the United States.

Developed under the guidance of HBS Executive Education, the Leading People and Investing to Build Sustainable Communities Program is the only program of its kind in the United States. The program brings together HBS Faculty and guest speakers from Indian Country who are experts in investing for the purpose of building sustainable tribal economies and communities.

The fee for this program is $3,000.00 and is payable in full to NCAI by April 3, 2020.*

The program fee covers the following: tuition, all session materials, accommodations in a single-occupancy room in the HBS Executive Residence facilities, meals (including breakfast, lunch, dinner, and breaks), session facilitators, guest speakers, review and approval of applications, and the certificate of completion. It does not cover airfare and transportation to and from the airport. (Please note that regarding accommodations, check-in is on Monday, May 4, 2020 and check-out is on Friday, May 8, 2020.)

Once the applicant’s eligibility is confirmed and he/she is approved for the program, NCAI will email the applicant an invoice so that he/she can pay for the program. In the event that the tuition is not paid by the due date, the seat will be offered to the next eligible applicant on the waiting list.

“I found the program to be very informative and beneficial, especially for those in tribal leadership positions. The materials and knowledge obtained throughout the program exceeded my expectations. The curriculum and networking was valuable for my role as Tribal Treasurer. I would highly recommend this program for tribal leadership. I cannot express how grateful I am to have been given the opportunity to attend.”

“As a financial leader in my tribal nation, I feel that I received world-class instruction that will make me an agent of change.”

“I would encourage anyone associated with a tribe in any financial capacity to seek out this experience.  Directors of Finance, CFO’s, investment managers, analysts, financial planners, economists, treasurers, council members – whatever title given, as long as they have some involvement with finances, this training is worthwhile.”
