Workforce Development Toolkit

This toolkit, the Tribal Workforce Development Toolkit Version 2.0, shares the main findings of NCAI’s ongoing research examining the innovative approaches to workforce development that Tribal Nations and other Native-led workforce development entities are forging, how they are achieving success (as they define it), and why. It frames and informs strategic decision-making by Native workforce developers at a foundational, nation-rebuilding level, providing them with a comprehensive lens through which they can identify, develop, and implement effective, sustainable workforce development solutions tailored to their distinct needs and ends.

15 Strategic Considerations of Workforce Development

To support the use of the toolkit as a resource for developing or strengthening comprehensive approaches to workforce development, toolkit users can select, “pull out,” and print specific strategic considerations from among the 15 featured in the toolkit to focus their deliberations and work in their areas of greatest need. Links to the individual pullouts are below.

Indian Country Snapshots

Each strategic consideration features two “Snapshot” summaries of leading examples of innovative workforce development solutions that directly address the strategic consideration in question. Each snapshot includes “Learning Link” and “Connect” features for toolkit users to learn more about the solutions presented. Below, in alphabetical order, are the Learning Link documents for the 30 Snapshots (each document features the summary, its endnotes, and a list of summary-specific linked resources for further learning).

Featured below is a document containing a comprehensive suite of related resources for further learning about how to build self-determined, holistic, and sustainable approaches to developing Native workforces.
