The National Congress of American Indians (NCAI) invites you to participate in a virtual meeting between the NCAI Native Languages Task Force and Senate Committee on Indian Affairs (SCIA) staff to discuss Native language revitalization efforts. This is a staff-level discussion and not an official SCIA hearing nor Committee event.

This conversation will focus on key priorities in Native language revitalization, including:

• Immersion schools and culturally grounded education models

• Native language teacher development and workforce needs

• Federal resources currently supporting these efforts

• Opportunities to strengthen federal support moving forward

We also expect to discuss the Children’s Commission Report and related discussion draft legislation, with the goal of identifying actionable pathways to better support Tribal Nations in preserving and advancing Native languages.
