On July 13, 2026, Clay W. Fulton, Chief of Staff for IHS, sent a letter calling for Tribal consultation and recommendations on the use of $70 million of SDPI funding. The total includes the $50 million increase in 2026 SDPI funding and $20 million one-time unobligated SDPI funding.

The letter includes 6 questions to provide recommendations with a set due date of August 12, 2026 to provide feedback. Submit comments to consultation@ihs.gov, urbanconfer@ihs.gov, and be sure to use SDPI Funding in the title of the comment letter.
