NCAI to Host 2026 Executive Council Winter Session and State of Indian Nations Address in Washington, D.C.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The National Congress of American Indians (NCAI) will host its 2026 Executive Council Winter Session (ECWS) on February 9–12 at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, D.C.

The week begins with the State of Indian Nations (SOIN) address on Monday, February 9, delivered by NCAI President Mark Macarro. The SOIN address presents Indian Country’s unified, formal voice to Congress, the Administration, and the nation, outlining crucial priorities and recommendations for federal action. Streaming details will be announced. 

ECWS convenes the NCAI Executive Council, including its Executive Committee and Tribal delegates, for plenary programming, policy discussions, consultations, and Task Force meetings that advance Tribal priorities through government-to-government engagement.

Held in conjunction with ECWS, the Native Youth Leadership Summit (NYLS) is open to Native youth ages 14–24, providing a unique opportunity for Indian Country’s future leaders to strengthen their voice and advocacy skills at the national level.
