The Associate General Counsel provides legal advice to the Ute Mountain Ute Tribal Council and the Tribe’s departments in all relevant matters as directed by the Tribe’s General Counsel or the Tribal Council members.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
High School or GED.
A Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school and at least two
full time experience in the legal field, an emphasis in Indian law is
preferred.
Licensed to practice law in any state in good standing, without
restrictions and must be able to acquire appropriate licensing in either
Colorado, New Mexico or Utah, in order to enable to counsel
represent the Tribe in Tribal, State and Federal Court jurisdictions. A
certificate of good standing from a licensed state bar is required.
Must divulge all disciplinary proceedings, if any, which may be
currently pending.
Must reside within reasonable proximity to the main tribal offices in
Towaoc, Colorado, or White Mesa, Utah.
Must be able to travel within the United States upon reasonable
accommodations, on relatively short notice.
Valid driver’s license and be insurable by the Tribe.
CPR/First Aid certification or be able to obtain.
