Job Summary: MTERA was awarded a $62M EPA Solar for All award to plan and deploy residential and community solar projects for the benefit of the 36 Tribal Nations located in Michigan, Minnesota, and Wisconsin in partnership with 5+ coalition partners. The coalition will leverage the deep expertise and experience of its members to build a program that empowers Tribes and Tribal energy champions, provides project-deployment technical assistance necessary to plan and build residentially benefiting solar projects on Tribal Lands in the Midwest, and includes workforce development to enhance Tribal self-determination and self-sufficiency. MTERA is seeking an experienced Deputy Solar for All Program Manager to support the oversight and implementation of the MTERA Solar for All program. This role will directly report to the MTERA Solar for All Lead, Vanessa Farley. This role involves overseeing complex projects, managing diverse partnerships, and driving sustainable energy solutions. The anticipated start date for this role is December 1, 2024.
Skills: The responsibilities will include both project planning, program management, and project execution engagements, and will require the following skills: - Stakeholder management and partnership development - Budget management and financial analysis – with a focus on grant-funded programs - Risk assessment and mitigation - Data analysis and reporting - Project management and team coordination (PMP certification or equivalent is a plus, but not required) - Strategic planning and execution - Cultural sensitivity and cross-cultural communication
Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in relevant fields - 4+ years of experience in program management, preferably in the energy sector - Experience managing federal grants and/or rigorous reporting processes - Proven track record of managing large-scale, complex projects with multiple stakeholders - Experience managing employees to meet project objectives - Strong financial acumen and experience managing multimillion-dollar budgets - Excellent communication, organization, and interpersonal skills - Knowledge of renewable energy technologies and market trends - Understanding of and/or experience working with Tribes
Summary of Responsibilities: The primary responsibilities are as follows: - Lead and supervise multiple SFA project managers responsible for delivering Solar For All projects to Member Tribes - Support SFA Program Lead to develop strategic and management plans to meet program objectives - Support the Program Lead in stakeholder engagement, including relationship management with Tribes, funders, and regulatory bodies. - Monitor project progress of individual Tribal projects to ensure deliverables are met - Coordinate and align efforts of partner organizations and contractors within individual Tribal projects to ensure project continuity - Serve as the point of contact for project-related challenges, providing solutions and strategic direction. - Ensure clear communication and collaboration between teams, the Program Manager, and external stakeholders. - Lead development of reporting processes on key metrics to ensure compliance with EPA - Identify and mitigate risks to program success - Foster innovation and collaboration among stakeholders
