The Division Director plans and directs a program of discretionary research grants, analyzes the impact of national research efforts related to the scientific areas supported by the Division, and makes recommendations to assist the NIGMS Director and the National Advisory General Medical Sciences Council or other advisory committees or groups in building national research capacity. Further, the Director provides direction, advice, and guidance to program administrators on: NIGMS policies; plans for support of research grants; the enhancements of
biomedical research infrastructure; grant mechanisms in support of NIGMS research priorities; and NIGMS’ commitment to diversity. The Director also advises other government agencies, universities, research institutes and societies, and professional and lay organizations about research opportunities, needs, and requirements. The DRCB Director works with other NIH and NIGMS components to advance NIGMS’ mission, including the support of its training, workforce development, diversity, and research capacity building goals and objectives.

Salary is competitive and will be commensurate with the experience of
