Position Summary Engages in epidemiologic activities, produces analysis of health statistics, and prepares and disseminates health reports for the California Tribal Epidemiology Center (the “EpiCenter”).
Qualifications
CRIHB recognizes that an equivalent combination of education, training, and progressively responsible experience may be considered. A high school diploma or equivalent is required for all applicants. 1. Education and Experience Requirements o Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Health Science, or a closely related field; and o A minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience, including: Three (3) years directly related to the program area (e.g., grant writing, health research, technical writing, or data coordination, At least one (1) year in a supervisory or management role of at least three (3) employees is preferred. Applicants who do not possess a bachelor’s degree (but meet the high school minimum requirement) must have at least nine (9) years of progressively professional experience demonstrating comparable scope and responsibility. This must include at least three (3) years in a related field and two (2) years in a supervisory role.
Preferred Qualification o Master’s degree in Public Health, Health Science, or a related field is preferred. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities 1. Experience conducting research literature reviews and working with statistical software (e.g., SAS, SPSS, STATA). 2. Strong analytical and writing skills, including the ability to produce well-organized and informative narratives of analytical methods (writing sample may be requested). 3. Advanced multi-media presentation skills. 4. Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment. 5. Ability to conduct research literature reviews. 6. Proficiency in various statistical software (i.e., SAS, SPSS, STATA), etc. 7. Work with minimal supervision. 8. Ability to multitask. 9. Experience in time management and meeting deadlines. 10. Commitment to confidentiality, equity, and American Indian self-determination. 11. Advanced verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. 12. Experience with Tribal health systems, nonprofit organizations, evaluation, or the public sector preferred. 13. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including advanced Excel functions and Office 365 applications. 14. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining accuracy and accountability. 15. Demonstrated time management and ability to meet deadlines under pressure. 16. CRIHB’s utilization of certain state family medical and pregnancy leave benefits, or any other benefit, is discretionary and shall not be construed as a waiver of sovereign immunity of CRIHB. CRIHB may provide information and documents that reference state laws or regulations from time to time, and in the event of inconsistency or conflict, CRIHB’s policy shall govern. Essential Functions 1. Develops project methodology and determines research design. 2. Collects epidemiological electronic data files from Indian health programs and state health agencies. 3. Stores and manages the collected data. 4. Generates analysis plans. 5. Performs analyses, including data linkages with statistical and spreadsheet programs; interprets analyses and writes analytical sections of study reports. 6. Develop data collection instruments and collect health surveillance. 7. Produces both lay and technical reports to present health data. 8. Serves as a coordinator for one or more projects. 9. Develops work scopes and schedules for special projects. 10. Assists in writing complex contracts or grants as needed. 11. Assists in designing and developing simple and complex grant budgets and justifications as needed. 12. Serves as a professional consultant to various organizations and committees. 13. Communicates with Indian health care providers and the Indian community about data and analytical issues. 14. Ensures the accuracy and clarity of analytical information in the EpiCenter. 15. Monitors specifically funded program activities and special projects, as assigned. 16. Regular and predictable attendance. 17. Other relevant duties as assigned. Additional Responsibilities 1. Maintain a valid, unrestricted driver’s license and ability to be insurable under CRIHB’s automobile insurance. 2. Position may require occasional overnight travel within CRIHB’s service area. 3. Requires the ability to drive up to seven (7) hours a day.
$75,935.00 – $80,999.00 annually
