For more than 40 years, the Firm has worked with American Indian and Alaska Native Tribes and Tribal organizations to promote and defend Tribal sovereignty, strengthen Tribal governments, expand opportunities for Tribal Nations, and improve the lives of American Indians and Alaska Natives.
The Firm is seeking a full-time Government Relations & Health Policy Advisor to join its Washington, DC office. The successful candidate will work closely with the Firm's attorneys and Tribal clients to monitor, analyze, and advance federal legislative and health policy initiatives affecting Tribal Nations.

Skills & Qualifications

Qualified candidates should have a strong understanding of the federal legislative process, including Congress, Executive Branch agencies, and the federal budget and appropriations process. Candidates must possess excellent research, analytical, writing, and communication skills and be capable of translating complex legislative and policy issues into practical guidance for clients.

Duties & Responsibilities

Responsibilities include monitoring Congressional committee activities, hearings, and federal legislative developments; identifying, tracking, and analyzing legislation and regulations affecting Tribal governments and organizations; researching federal health policy issues, including Medicare, Medicaid, behavioral health, and public health initiatives; and preparing white papers, memoranda, legislative summaries, reports, client alerts, and other written materials. The Advisor will also support attorneys and Tribal clients by providing strategic legislative and policy analysis and assisting with advocacy efforts before Congress and federal agencies. Candidates must be highly organized, able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment, and capable of working both independently and collaboratively. Experience in congressional affairs, government relations, legislative advocacy, health policy, or a related field is required. Experience working with Tribal governments, Tribal organizations, or national health policy organizations is preferred.

Salary & Benefits

$80,000-100,000 annually
