Job Description

Central Council of Tlingit & Haida Indian Tribes of Alaska is seeking an Intergovernmental Affairs Liaison to support the Tribe’s governmental affairs program and advance priorities related to Tribal sovereignty, self-determination, public policy, and government-to-government relations.

Based within the Office of the President, this position coordinates legislative, regulatory, policy, and intergovernmental initiatives; monitors federal, state, Tribal, and local policy developments; conducts research and analysis; and prepares testimony, consultation comments, resolutions, briefing materials, and other advocacy documents.

The Liaison also helps coordinate government-to-government consultation and builds collaborative relationships with Tribal governments, elected officials, governmental agencies, Alaska Native organizations, and other partners.

Skills & Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Political Science, Public Policy, Native American Studies, Communications, Natural Resources, Environmental Policy, Business Administration, or a related field, plus three years of progressively responsible experience in governmental affairs, legislative affairs, Tribal government, public policy, advocacy, intergovernmental relations, or a related field. Equivalent education and directly related experience may be considered.

Experience working with Tribal governments, Alaska Native organizations, government-to-government consultation, legislative advocacy, and federal Indian law is highly valued.

Salary & Benefits

$79,306.50 – $103,486.50 DOE
