The Network Administrator is responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of the Tolowa Dee-ni' Nation’s enterprise network infrastructure. The Network Administrator ensures the network infrastructure is reliable and resilient, while also maintaining a high level of security. This role also aids in supporting other systems administration duties for servers, backups, and applications. All Tolowa Dee-ni' Nation employees must submit to a background check and abide by all Tribal, federal, and state laws. Required Knowledge:
All Tolowa Dee-ni' Nation employees are expected to have general knowledge of typical office technologies such as computers, printers, copiers, fax machines, and typical office software.
Job Specific knowledge is listed below: • Advanced knowledge of TCP/IP networking, Routing, DHCP, DNS, VLANs, NAT, and subnetting • Proficient in administering, monitoring, and securing firewalls (Palo Alto) • Highly experienced managing multi-site fiber-optic networks • Experience locating fiber breaks, fusion splicing, and terminating fiber optic cables. • Experience with network monitoring and logging tools (e.g., CheckMk, Zabbix, Wireshark, PRTG) • Proficiency with virtualization platforms: VMware vSphere and Microsoft Hyper-V • Competence in basic Windows Server and/or Linux systems administration • Strong troubleshooting, documentation, and analytical skills • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects independently • Ability to lead technical implementations and collaborate across departments • Knowledge of regional and cultural customs and values.

Minimum Requirements:
High School Diploma or GED • 10 years of experience in enterprise network administration ** A Bachelor of Science (BS) in Information Technology (IT), Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, Network Administration or similar can substitute for 8 years of experience. • Industry certifications preferred (e.g., CFOT or SCTE, Palo Alto PCNSA/PCNSE, Cisco CCNA, CompTIA Network+, Security+) • Valid state issued driver’s license and/or the ability to obtain a California or Oregon driver’s license. Must be insurable on the Nation’s insurance policy.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Manage, monitor, and secure enterprise network infrastructure including private fiber optic networks, LAN/WAN routing, VPNs, VLANs, and wireless networks. 2. Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot firewalls, including security rules, NAT policies, VPN tunnels, and threat prevention, IDS/IPS features. 3. Design and support resilient fiber-based WAN connections between Tribal government sites and facilities using existing fiber optic cabling and future private/dark fiber. 4. Monitor and analyze network traffic and performance to ensure optimum operation. 5. Troubleshoot & locate breaks in fiber optic networks. Splice and terminate fiber optic cables as needed. 6. Maintain detailed documentation of network architecture, device configurations, and change logs. 7. Assist in the administration and support server environments using VMware vSphere and Microsoft Hyper-V, including VM provisioning, backups, and host server maintenance. 8. Assist in managing Windows and/or Linux servers, Active Directory, and Group Policy. 9. Participate in disaster recovery and business continuity planning for both network and system infrastructure. 10. Collaborate with IT staff and department teams to implement secure and efficient networked solutions. 11. Respond to network outages and critical incidents, including occasional after-hours support. 12. Perform other related duties as assigned
