Bringing together the Native youth leaders of Indian Country, the Native Youth Leadership Summit (NYLS) provides practical skills and immersive, hands-on training to prepare the next generation of Indigenous policy advocates to lead the way in advancing sovereignty. Open to ages 14–24.

2026 Native Youth Leadership Summit

Held in conjunction with the Executive Council Winter Session, the State of Indian Nations (SOIN) is delivered by the President of the National Congress of American Indians and serves as a formal address to Congress, the Administration, and the nation. The address outlines Indian Country’s priorities for the year ahead, grounded in Tribal sovereignty and nation-to-nation governance, and presents clear recommendations for federal action. SOIN calls for accountability through partnership and reinforces the federal government’s responsibility to uphold trust and treaty obligations in ways that support Tribal self-determination, public safety, housing, economic development, and the well-being of Native families.
