Mandan, Hidatsa and Arikara Nation 

The Chief Judge serves as the highest judicial officer of the Court, entrusted with both the administration of justice and the overall leadership of the judicial branch. This position presides over a full range of cases, ensuring that proceedings are conducted fairly, impartially, and in accordance with Tribal law, applicable codes, and constitutional principles. This position also provides strategic direction and administrative oversight for the Court, including supervision of judges and staff, management of court operations, and coordination with the Tribal Council and community stakeholders.

Knowledge of civil law, criminal law, juvenile law, and the tribal constitution, codes and ordinances, rules, precedents and the relationships affecting jurisdiction on criminal, civil and juvenile cases in Indian territory.

Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe 

SUMMARY: The Compliance Officer supports the TERO Department by helping secure compliance under Title VII exemption law, EEOC requirements, and other relevant federal, Tribal, and safety compliance standards. This position monitors contractor compliance supports accurate documentation and reporting and assists with fair and consistent application of the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe’s TERO Ordinance and related requirements. Compliance Officer

Meets with the Tribal Council in regular and special meetings; provides information and/or reports regarding tribal operations, services and programs; ensures appropriate staff are in attendance; advises Tribal Council in their deliberations on planning, policies and/or laws/ordinances. 2. Track all Tribal Council directives, assign them to appropriate department leaders, and ensure timely, clear reporting of outcomes back to council. Ensure directives are clear, in writing, and have a timeline for completion. 3. Ensure that staff carry out directives and policies of the Council utilizing the appropriate chain of command. 4. Responsible for the implementation of policies and procedures approved by the Tribal Council. Provides notification to the organization of all new policies and procedures with the effective date. 5. Yurok Tribe 

POSITION SUMMARY: The Yurok Tribal Chairperson delegates their Chief Executive Officer responsibility for management and day-to-day operations to the Executive Director, who has the authority to carry out these responsibilities, in accordance with the direction and policies established by the Council. The Executive Director also provides directions and guidance to the Yurok Council as it carries out its governance functions. Under guidance of the Yurok Tribal Council the incumbent is responsible for the effective and efficient administration of overall Tribal operations, including guiding Tribally-owned corporations when specifically delegated, serves as the principal operating executive for implementation of the Tribal policies and legislative directives including the direct oversight of the department Directors and/or Deputy Executive Directors as well as staff in the Administration Department. The Executive Director directs and oversees the development of all Yurok Tribe programs, plans, and budgets. Incumbent will provide supervisory duties and leadership to the Yurok Tribe department Directors and/or Deputy Executive Directors in the performance of their assignments as well as issue directives designed to accomplish the goals and objectives set by Council. Provides initiative in identifying the need for action by the Yurok Tribal Council to develop or revise policies and procedures. Incumbent is accountable for achieving Council goals and objectives and for compliance with policy directions.

Position could require travel and occasional work outside of regular work schedule. 

WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment temperature can fluctuate between 40-90 degrees Fahrenheit due to open doors and windows. The job will require inside and outside activities. There are many distractions, and the noise level can escalate. 

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Must have the ability to read, write and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. With ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. Knowledge of Yurok language is preferred but not required. 

REASONING ABILITY: Apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral and/or diagram form. With ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk, stand, use hands and fingers, handle, or feel. Employee will have prolonged periods of standing or sitting and constant movement. The employee must lift and/or move up to 50 pounds often. 

VISION REQUIREMENTS: 1. Close vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less). 2. Color vision (ability to identify and distinguish colors). 3. Depth perception (three-dimensional vision, ability to judge distances and spatial relationships). 4. Ability to adjust focus (ability to adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus).
