ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Develops, implements, and evaluates short- and long-term goals, objectives, and policies of the Detention Program to strengthen the overall department operations and administration. Develops and implements internal control mechanisms to maintain division accountability through policies and procedures. 2. Coordinates detention program administration, operations, training, and logistics, (e.g., transportation) activities with other department and division components, tribal agencies, criminal justice agencies, and community. 3. Coach, lead, manage, and direct detention supervisory personnel. Establishes and monitors supervisory employee performance objectives and processes complaints and grievances. Prepares and presents performance reviews. Takes and/or monitors disciplinary/corrective action as appropriate. 4. Ensures the recruitment and selection of qualified and certified personnel. Assigns work activities; monitors workflow; reviews and evaluates work products, methods and processes; accesses and directs training, proficiency, continuing education, and re-certification of all personnel in accordance with all requirements. Provides training on new policies, procedures, contracts, agreements, and understandings. 5. Responsible for budget preparation, budget prioritization, and administration including accounting and expenditure control for the division. Approves and monitors line items and coordinates expenditures. 6. Prepares justification and documentation of services; prepares and submits activity and/or required reports; attends meetings, in-service and professional training and court hearings. 7. Inspects the detention facility and housing units for compliance with policies, rules, regulations and directives. Request and verifies maintenance of the detention facility and housing units. 8. Evaluates inmate complaints and grievances; provides resolution as appropriate. 9. Negotiates all detention related contracts, agreements and understandings. Monitors performance for compliance of contracts, agreements, and understandings; monitors and coordinates actions taken on these instruments with contractors, subcontractors and grantors. Notifies and advises the Department Director of any problems or necessary corrective action associated with these instruments. 10. Prepares grant applications to supplement and support program goals and objectives. 11. When authorized, shall represent the Southern Ute Detention Center on various boards, panels, or National and Indian Country detention issues, as appropriate. 12. Maintains best practice requirements for Southern Ute Indian Tribes, state, and federal regulations, policies and procedures governing incarceration. 13. May be delegated to oversee the operations of the Department of Justice and Regulatory in the absence of the Director. 14. Performs other duties as assigned.

Southern Ute Indian Tribe

POSITION SUMMARY: Under general supervision of the Director of Justice and Regulatory, plans, organizes, directs, and reviews the administrative and operational activities of the Southern Ute Detention Program and Facility; ensures compliance with all applicable laws, policies, and procedures; develops and implements Division policy and programmatic changes as required.

QUALIFICATIONS: Must have AA degree in Criminal Justice or related field OR increasingly progressive and responsible law enforcement and/or corrections/detention experience with a combination of education, training, supervisory and leadership experience. Must have 6 years of experience in Criminal Justice, 2 of which are specifically corrections/detentions. Must have 3 years of increasingly progressive and responsible supervisory experience in Criminal Justice or related area. Must never have been convicted of a felony or a crime of misdemeanor domestic violence in Tribal, State or Federal court. Must not have been convicted of or placed on a deferred judgment for any misdemeanor crime for one year prior to appointment. Must not have served any State, County, Tribal, or Federal jail or prison time within the last 4 years. Must have a valid Driver’s license for state of residency and be insurable under the Tribal vehicle insurance policy. Must successfully pass a medical examination prior to appointment and thereafter annually. Must successfully participate in a Physical Agility test during the first 90 days of employment and annually thereafter. The test will consist of a serpentine run, 150 lb body drag, 3’ barrier vault, bed search, stair climb, 5’ barrier up & over, tunnel crawl and a lift & carry. Must pass a psychological evaluation prior to employment. Must pass a thorough background check including Criminal History, fingerprint check, and pre-employment drug test. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Certification in First Aid and CPR. Certification from an accredited law enforcement or detention academy. Experience and/or understanding of State and Federal, BIA jail standards for operating detention. TERO preference.

Detention Division Head 

Implement Tribal Council goals into actionable policies and programs.

Serve as the primary liaison between the Tribal Council and Tribal government operations.

Lead long-term planning efforts to support economic development, infrastructure, health, education and cultural preservation.

Establish credibility throughout the organization and with the Council as an effective developer of solutions to organizational challenges and opportunities.

Effectively implement and communicate Tribal goals, objectives, policies and procedures in accordance with strategic plans.

Achieve financial objectives by providing leadership in the preparing and administering of the annual program budgets, presenting budget recommendations with justification to Council.

Review activity reports and financial statements to determine progress and status in attaining objectives and revised objectives; and plans in accordance to current conditions.

Hold regular meetings with department/program directors to foster increased communication and interaction between departments.

Effectively communicate the Nooksack Indian Tribes values, strategies and objectives to internal and external audiences.

Direct on-going research and planning to obtain information and community input regarding the social and economic needs of the community served.

Regular attendance and participation at community events hosted by the Nooksack Indian Tribe to demonstrate positive leadership and support for the employees and community.

Provide administrative and technical assistance to the Directors and act as professional staff to the Council.

Establish a culture of continuous improvement where employees are encouraged to achieve their highest potential.

Prepare and present progress reports on the status, activities, and plans for the current and future programs to the Tribal Council.

Maintain awareness of governmental changes affecting the activities of the Nooksack Tribe, communicating and implementing required changes.

Ensuring Tribal Councils directives and timelines are followed through on and progress is reported back to the Tribal Council.

CEO of NBC II, NBC III, and MCI Board: (Temporary)

Provide for the efficient and effective utilization of the resources of the Tribe in a manner that protects the long-term interests of the Tribe;

Promote the economic development of the Tribe;

Manage the general affairs and business of the corporations;

Perform all duties related in good faith;

Attend annual meetings of the corporate boards {120 days following the close of the fiscal year);

Maintain financial records of the boards;

Annually provide to Council the operating conditions of the corporations;

Submit a business plan of the corporations to Council for review and approval by January 31st of each year;

Nooksack Indian Tribe 

The General Manager serves as the chief administrative officer of the Tribe, responsible for the overall leadership, coordination, and operational effectiveness of Tribal government programs and services. Reporting directly to the Tribal Council, the General Manager ensures that the Tribe’s strategic goals, cultural values, and community priorities are implemented through effective governance, sound management, and collaborative leadership.

The General Manager via the leadership of the Service Department Administrator and the Operations Department Administrator, is responsible for the overall operations of departments, programs and services provided by the Nooksack Tribal Council for the Tribal membership. The General Manager ensures alignment of departmental operations with Tribal Council directives, strategic plans and community needs while fostering a culture of accountability, transparency and continuous improvement across the organization.

The following qualifications are required for the incumbent to have, in order to be considered for the position.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND TRAINING FOR THE POSITION:

Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in Tribal administration, public administration, business administration, or related field;

Minimum of five (5) years of experience at a Director or higher level managing multiple, diverse departments, specifically related to the area of responsibility;

Minimum of four (4) years of experience administering Tribal programs and working in a Tribal Government environment;

Proven fiscal skills including effective oversight of budgets in excess of $40 million.

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Tribal Administration, public administration, business administration, or related field;

Minimum of ten (10) years of experience at a Director or higher level managing multiple, diverse departments, specifically related to the area of responsibility;

Minimum of eight (8) years administering Tribal programs and working in a Tribal Government Environment;

California Indian Legal Services 

Founded in 1967, California Indian Legal Services (CILS) is the oldest public interest Indian rights law firm in the country, promoting the fundamental rights of California Tribes and Indians through litigation, legislative and administrative advocacy, community development, and other strategies for systemic change. CILS provides a full range of legal representation to California Indian Tribes and Indian organizations, advocates for the rights of California Indians at the local, state, and national levels, and provides direct services and community education to low-income Native American individuals on issues related to Federal Indian Law and Tribal law. Currently, CILS’ hybrid non-profit law firm and legal aid offers services statewide and maintains four offices throughout California – Eastern (Bishop), Southern (Escondido), Northern (McKinleyville), and Central (Sacramento). This position is part of the Principal Office, located in Sacramento, CA, but will be based in the Northern or Southern office location.

The Legal Impact/Legal Programs Paralegal provides high-level, statewide coordination in support of the Director of Legal Programs (DLP) and the Director of Legal Impact & Legislative Affairs (DLILA). This role is responsible for coordinating complex legal, legislative, programmatic, and organizational initiatives that advance the mission of California Indian Legal Services (CILS).

The Legal Impact/Legal Programs Paralegal plays an essential role in facilitating high-impact litigation support, legislative tracking and coordination, statewide program operations, attorney training logistics, case acceptance processes, and the development of publications and community education materials. This position requires advanced organizational, analytical, and communication skills and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision while managing sensitive information with professionalism, discretion, and cultural competence.

Duties and Powers of Justices:
a) All Justices of the Supreme Court, unless disqualified for conflict of interest or other cause, shall participate in the deliberations of that body and shall have the duty and power to conduct all court proceedings and issue all orders and papers incident thereto, in order to administer justice in all the matters within the jurisdiction of the Supreme Court. In doing so the Supreme Court shall:
b) Be responsible for creating and maintaining rules of the Court not contrary to the Tribal Constitution or Code, regulating conduct in the Supreme and District Courts to provide for the orderly and efficient administration of justice and the administration of the Courts. Such rules shall determine, where not otherwise provided by law, what actions be taken by a single Justice of the Court and shall be filed with the Clerk of the Court.
c) Hear appeals from the District Court at a designated time and place
d) Enter all appropriate orders and judgments.
e) Keep all appropriate records as may be required.
f) Perform all other duties as may be required for the operation of the Supreme Court and the District Court.
g) Supervise the actions of the District Court and all Clerks, Reporters, Bailiffs, and other officers of the Courts.
h) Perform any of the duties and powers of a District Judge in appropriate cases.

Pawnee Nation of Oklahoma 

The Pawnee Nation Supreme Court may hear appeals resulting from all final orders or judgments rendered by the District Court, appeals of other orders of the District Court subject to interlocutory appeal by law, and such original actions as may be provided by tribal law, and shall render its decision in writing to the parties of interest, files a copy thereof in the Supreme Court Clerk’s office and at the time of filing submit a copy to the official reporter of the decisions of the Court. The decision of the Supreme Court shall be final and binding upon the parties.

Compensation is $450 per Supreme Court Meeting.


To be eligible for selection or confirmation as a Justice of the Supreme Court, a person shall:
a)
Be either
1. Enrolled member of the Pawnee Nation
2. The parent, child, or spouse of an enrolled member
3. Actually domiciled within the territorial jurisdiction of the Pawnee Nation
4. An attorney, or
5. A lay advocate who has regularly practiced before the court as a member of the Bar of the Court for a period of seven (7) years
6. A graduate of an American Bar Association approved Law School, or a Paralegal program approved by the Supreme Court; and
b) have demonstrated moral integrity and fairness in business, public and private life, and c) have never been convicted of a felony or an offense punishable by banishment or involving moral turpitude, whether or not actually imprisoned or banished, and have not been convicted of any offense, except traffic offenses, for a period of five years preceding the appointment. The five-year period shall begin to run from the date the person was unconditionally released from supervision of any sort as a result of a conviction. d) have regularly abstained from the excessive use of alcohol and any use whatsoever of illegal drugs or psycho toxic chemical solvents. e) be not less than thirty (30) years of age f) not a member of the Tribal Legislative Body, or the holder of any other elective Tribal Office of this Tribe, provided, that a candidate who is a member of the Tribal Legislative Body, or the holder of some other elective Tribal Office, may be confirmed as a justice subject to his/her resignation. Upon resignation from his/her elected Tribal Office, he/she may be sworn in and assume the duties of judicial office. g) if less than fifty (50) years of age, have completed at least sixty (60) semester credit hours at an accredited college or university, or at least four years of previous experience as a Judicial Officer for a recognized court.
All Justices of the Supreme Court shall serve six (6) year terms of office beginning from the date of their confirmation and until their successors take office, unless removed for cause, or by death or resignation.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITY: The Public Defender is responsible for carrying out faithfully the duties of this office to the best of his/her ability, and to cooperate, promote and protect the best interest of the members of the Pawnee tribe. Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe 

The Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe Historic Preservation Office and National Grid’s Indigenous Peoples Initiative (IPI), are offering an eight-week paid summer internship. This unique collaboration between a Tribal Historic Preservation Office and a utility company reflects a shared commitment to strengthening culturally grounded preservation practice and meaningful Tribal engagement.

The internship places an intern within the Tribe’s Tribal Historic Preservation Office, providing direct, hands-on experience supporting cultural resource protection and preservation initiatives.

Tribal Historic Preservation Internship 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Provides Clinical supervision to the Social Services staff to ensure effective care and quality of services. 2. Coordinates and conducts weekly staff clinical supervision. 3. Monitors and reviews all client case records in 90-day intervals. Ensures cases are in compliance with tribal/BIA guidelines 4. Develops and maintains effective working relationships with staff, coworkers, Tribal Departments, community agencies, educational institutions, and the public. 5. Responsible for the facilitation of in-service trainings for the division staff. 6. Prepares reports for appropriate documentation of B.I.A. contracts and Title IV E contracts. Works in conjunction with the Division Head to ensure program compliance of all required BIA and Tribal forms. 7. Responsible for development and management of placement contracts and renewals when appropriate. 8. Ensures program compliance with agencies of contracted services. 9. Assigns referral cases to case management staff. 10. Carries a client caseload when the division is experiencing a staff shortage or a heavy caseload. 11. Assists in the training and orientation of new Social Workers, Therapists, and/or other staff as appropriate. 12. Serves as on-call supervisor as scheduled. 13. Performs duties and responsibilities in a professional and ethical manner which does not negatively impact the program, the clients, or the credibility and effectiveness of the position. 14. Assumes the position of Acting Social Services Division Head when the Division Head is out of the office. 15. Provides case management summaries to the Division Head as required and offers feedback to the Division Head on Social Worker and Therapist effectiveness. 16. Seeks and engages in continuing education to maintain current licenses and certifications and to maintain knowledge of best practices and current information concerning the position. 17. Performs other job-related duties as assigned by the Division Head.

This is a senior level position that provides Clinical Supervision to staff Social Workers providing a full range of intake and/or ongoing social casework services for a variety of program areas such as child abuse and neglect cases, youth-in-conflict cases, and adults unable to protect their own interests. This position also provides clinical supervision and oversees the Family Treatment Therapist and the Foster Care Program Coordinator.

QUALIFICATIONS: Must have a MA/MS in Social Work (MSW) or related human services field. Must be a Licensed Clinical Social Worker or Licensed Professional Counselor in any state and have the ability to obtain licensure in CO within one year. Must have 5 years of experience in social services casework, child/adult protection, and file management with increasing levels of responsibility. Must have contract & grant management experience. Must have experience using electronic file management systems. This is a senior level position that requires knowledge of the theories, principles, and concepts of social casework practice (assessment and treatment oriented) related to all of the assigned program areas. Knowledge of the following is also required: social group work principles and methods; medical symptoms related to injuries or failure to thrive in children; battered child syndrome, and the laws dealing with child abuse, neglect and other dependency conditions; problems of the elderly, persons with physical, mental, and emotional disabilities, alcohol and substance dependence; interviewing techniques, crisis intervention methods, and relevant treatment modalities; community resources, rules and regulations specific to profession. Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including on-call. Must have valid Driver’s License for state of residency and be insurable through Tribal Vehicle Insurance Policy. Must pass a thorough background check including Criminal History, fingerprint check, and pre-employment drug test.
